If your son or daughter doesn't want to study, it may be time to tell them what the world usually doesn't. Not to scare them, but to prepare them. Here are five truths every parent must teach.
1. Time doesn't wait for anyone. Today they may say, I don't feel like it. Tomorrow they'll watch others move forward and wonder why they stayed behind.
2. Effort is not optional. If they avoid effort now, life will demand double later, without mercy and without help.
3. The world owes them nothing. Not success, not respect, not second chances. Those are earned. And even a parent's love can't replace real skills.
4. Knowledge is power. Not just school, but learning how to think, speak and solve problems. That's what opens doors and builds independence.
5. Without preparation, life is harsh. The unprepared are underpaid, unstable and easily replaced. No parent wants that future for their child.
And here comes the most important part. Studying may not be the only path, but doing nothing is never an option. Prepare them now, so life doesn't have to teach them the hard way.
